The STEP Birmingham Chamber Music Workshop aims to foster camaraderie, communication, and beauty through high quality music making. Seasoned guest artists from around the country will work with workshop participants. STEP hopes that the weekend proves to be a positive, enriching experience for all involved. 

Date: January 15 - 17, 2021

Place: Coachings will be virtual. Students can participate 100% virtually or make their own arrangements to be in-person with some or all of their group-mates. 

Registration Deadline: November 15, 2020

Before the Workshop

Participants should practice and learn their parts to the best of their abilities. Listen to multiple recordings of the piece. If you need assistance finding recordings, contact STEP.  


Join us for a required pre-workshop tutorial Sunday Jan 10, 4 - 4:45pm via Zoom to learn about how the workshop will work. Plan to attend even if you're meeting your group in person. For the tutorial and workshop, you will need the following equipment: 

  • Computer or tablet

  • Free account at www.bandlab.com. Children under 18 must use a guardian's email address. BandLab's privacy policy is here

  • Non-Bluetooth headphones that connect to your device


Friday Jan 15
5pm - 8pm - including a musical presentation by the quartet and optional dinner break. *All participants should plan to be online during this time (no in-person meetings)

Saturday Jan 16

10am - 4:30pm - with a lunch break 12:30 - 1:30pm

Sunday Jan 17

1pm - 5pm - including final presentations (family and friends invited!) at 4:30pm
